Vocational Services Manager

General Responsibilities

The Vocational Services Manager is primarily responsible for the development and management of Vocational activities under the direct supervision of the Chief Operating Officer. The Vocational Services Manager is to plan, coordinate, implement, and facilitate a Vocational program that helps assists residents in securing employment.

Summary of Position

The focus of this position will be to ensure efficient delivery of vocational services to clients who are HIV-infected through assessment, planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of all employment and training activities. This position will directly supervise Client Services Assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Establish and maintain an accurate database tracking and reporting system including record keeping, client files and other relevant program information.
  2. Establish strategies for effective pre-vocational skills training, occupational skills training, and job placement and retention based on current labor market needs
  3. Coordinate and monitor job placement training classes and activities.
  4. Develop linkages with area agencies and businesses in order to establish referral services and effective program delivery.
  5. Prepare and submit required reports as directed.
  6. Set goals and schedule and conduct outcome evaluations of service delivery on an annual basis.
  7. Provides outreach and information to the community regarding the agency’s vocational activities.
  8. Complete documentation in a timely manner.
  9. Assess client stability and provide referrals to increase level of stability and self sufficiency.
  10. Must be able to advocate for, and provide support to, individuals with disabilities.
  11. Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • BA/BS required in social work, human services, or related field and/or three years of vocational coordination experience.
  • Experience in psychology, social services and particularly in the field of HIV/AIDS care is highly desired. Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience providing vocational coordination to populations with issues including mental illness, substance abuse, chronic health and/or homelessness.
  • Familiarity with database, internet, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Access to reliable transportation required
  • Fluency in a second language may be required.
  • Must be physically able to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of twenty (20) pounds.

Plan for Continued Training

  • The incumbent will participate in all agency training and development programs and will maintain continuing education requirements for continued certifications. Must maintain compliance with all HOPWA and DOL annual trainings.

Work Hours

Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
